HISTORY

The building hasn’t always been a public house. It was originally built in 1765 as a farm house. On becoming a pub it was called the Siden House. Siden is a Black Country word meaning crooked. Subsidence due to coal mining in the 1800’s left the building leaning and today there is a four foot drop from one end to the other.

The pub changed its name to the Glynne Arms after the name of the land owner but it was then condemned in the 1940’s because of safety concerns. Fortunately Wolverhampton and Dudley breweries saved the building by reinforcing it and making it safe.

Now called The Crooked House it has become a famous tourist attraction.
