THE BLACK COUNTRY FLAG

The Black Country was once described as being  black by day (due to the smoke and soot in the air) and red by night (from the glow of the furnaces) hence the black and red on the flag. The white shape represents the glass cones in which the world famous Stourbridge glass was made. The chains represent the manufacturing industry for which the area also became world famous.
