HISTORY OF BAGGERIDGE
Originally the land was part of the Earl of Dudley’s estate. Coal was found in the area and Baggeridge colliery opened in 1899. Its closure in 1968 saw he end of coal mining in the Black Country.
The local council brought the derelict land and started reclamation work. Designated a country park in 1970 work continued and in 1983 Princess Anne opened the new Baggeridge Country Park.
